I agree with the assertion and think one of the best examples is computer technology. In 1943, the chairman of IBM, Thomas Watson, said , "I think there is a world market for maybe five computer." At that time IBM was the only major computer manufacturer and their vision was extremely narrow, aiming at only a few scientific institutions and large organizations. It took the work of many people outside business and science to create the market we have today.
